What is the 14th Amendment and why is it Important?
Our March speaker, Dr. David R. Upham, an Associate Professor of Politics and Director of Legal Studies at the University of Dallas, will discuss his published research in the area of American Constitutional History with a particular focus on the 14th Amendment.
Dr. Upham will guide us through some of the courts far reaching decisions while reviewing the Constitutional principles. The citizenship clause states that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction, thereof, are citizens of the United States” plays an important role in the illegal immigration situation today.
