Dear club members, please plan to attend a joint CCRMC and AARCCC monthly meeting on Thursday, April 15th from 6.30 to 8.30 PM. Please make a note that this is a once-a-year special meeting to be held at Collin College Ad Min. building’s auditorium on 3452 Spur 399, McKinney, Tx. Map and directions as shown below, as well as the hyperlink above.

As you know last year President Trump declared China and its major high-tech companies, some of which have US headquarters in Collin County, as National Security Risk. So, CCRMC has teamed with African American Republican Club of Collin County (AARCCC) to discuss a challenging topic:

China/Hong Kong/Taiwan - US National Security and Human Rights.

 

We have invited two key speakers for a very informative session:

  • Dr. Wen Chen, a specialist in Geopolitical Risks and Human Rights from Los Angeles, California.
  • Professor Karl Ho, a specialist in Taiwan Studies at UTD.

Speakers’ brief bio of each is listed here in.  Our special topic is timely considering three other similar topic meetings are being held by other Collin County Republican organizations:

  • Republican Women of North Texas (RWGNT) on April 13, 2021  China’s Influence in America & Threat it Poses
  • Patriot Breakfast at 7.30 AM on April 21, 2021  China’s Four - Dimensional Threat
  • Heritage Ranch Club, Fairview, Tx. on June 3, 2021  China and Its Threat to National Security

The exception being the above meetings are by invitation only, while CCRMC/AARCCC meeting is open to all. So, please invite a guest to the meeting. We have plenty of space. Texas does not have mask mandate anymore. Still a limited number of masks will be available at the registration desk.

Dr. Wen Chen

The Chinese Communist Party’s Infiltration into the U.S.

Dr. Wen Chen, a biologist and information scientist on genomics and biological researcher at Caltech since 2000, was born in China at the end of Great Cultural Revolution. Dr. Chen won a national prize at a science competition at the age of 16 and got accepted to top Chinese University for undergraduate studies. In 1994, Wen came to the U.S. for graduate school and received a Ph.D. in Biology at the California Institute of Technology in 2000. Because of her personal experiences of being brainwashed in China, she decided to be a voice for the voiceless. Part of her everyday work is scientific outreach by speaking at conferences and seminars in universities like UC San Diego and Harvard Medical School. Her talk at CCRMC meeting will cover:

How Chinese Communist Party (CCP) quickly gained financial power after China joined the World Trade Organization. During the past 20 years, the Chinese government built up business ties with Hollywood and over 30 mainstream media worldwide to tell a better story about China. Hundreds of universities, including the college board, outsourced mandarin teaching to the Chinese government. The Chinese consulates actively manipulate Chinese Americans and business owners who may steal intellectual property or influence elections. The U.S. lawmakers cannot stop at "condemning human rights abuses in China." They must take serious actions to prevent American businesses from sponsoring the CCP. We also need serious measures to protect academic and press freedom.

Prof. Karl Ho

Political polarization in Taiwan and the United States

Prof. Karl Ho is a political scientist at the University of Texas at Dallas. He teaches political economy and public policy in East Asia. His research focuses on East Asian and China-Taiwan-US relations. He is the organizer of the UTD Taiwan Democracy Symposium. He was awarded the Taiwan fellowship in 2018, studying Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy. He is originally from Hong Kong. Starting off as a journalism major and professional journalist after graduation, he traveled in China extensively covering stories during the country’s embarking economic reforms. He has been active in Taiwan elections and democratization research and comparative analysis of political polarization in Taiwan and the United States.
